From April 1st, 2024 the Geohazards Group participates in a large project funded by the Czech Ministry of Education: “Natural and Anthropogenic Geohazards”. The project, awarded to the Faculty of Science of Charles University is co-funded by the European Union. It involves 12 institutions and over 150 researchers.

The main research objective of the project is to understand natural and anthropogenic threats and risks in the Earth’s upper spheres, to explain their causes and to quantify their potential impacts on human society and infrastructures. Thus, the project should result not only in a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms of these processes, but also in a proposal for their improved monitoring, possible minimisation and prediction, including mitigation of their negative effects.
